Our Story
Rugged SA was founded in 2016 by a team of university friends with a vision to provide durable, reliable technology solutions for South Africa’s enterprise and working-class markets. From humble beginnings in a 75sqm apartment in Fairlands, Randburg, with just three employees and a small repair centre in the kitchen, the company quickly grew into a trusted distributor of rugged phone brands including Blackview and Ulefone as well as a platinum partner of Chainway for enterprise scanning and RFID solutions. With the launch of its own RUGGEX line of intrinsically safe phones and tablets for the mining and petrochemical industries, and partnerships with major mobile operators such as MTN, Vodacom, and Telkom, Rugged SA has established itself as a reliable technology partner across the country.
Today, Rugged SA employs over 50 people and operates from expanded office and warehouse space in Constantia Office Park. The company has launched RIZZEN, its global consumer and enterprise electronics brand, and partnered with Zebra, Honeywell, and ONERugged. Through initiatives like the Tender Centre and Rugged Africa, Rugged SA actively supports SMEs and previously disadvantaged individuals across South Africa. Delivering rugged ICT solutions across sectors including energy, healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, retail, security, and mining, the company helps businesses operate more efficiently, safely, and reliably.
