 FlightAutonomy 2.0 three-direction obstacle sensing system

The Onyx Black DJI Mavic Air features a 3-direction (front/rear/downward) obstacle sensing system called FlightAutonomy 2.0 to stop the drone from colliding into obstacles such as walls, tree's, and telephone/power cables. FlightAutonomy uses advanced VIO technology consisting of the camera; forward, backward, and downward dual-vision sensors; downward infrared sensing system, IMU redundancies; and a group of processor cores. Together, all these technologies render an accurate 3D environment of up to 30m around the Mavic Air so it can react to its surroundings.

This obstacle avoidance system works both in outdoor and indoor environments and is activated in every Intelligent Flight Mode including all ActiveTrack modes, TapFly and Terrain Follow. It is also available during automatic Return to Home, so that the DJI Mavic Air can safely get back to you in case of a lost connection or low battery.

ActiveTrack subject follow and framing

The DJI Mavic Air's ActiveTrack successfully makes autonomous/automatic follow recording a reality. Whether you or your subject are running, cycling, skating, skiing, driving, the Mavic Air uses an advanced combination of computer vision, object recognition, gesture support and machine learning to track as many as 16 subjects as they move. Circling a moving object and keeping it in the frame used to only be achievable by the most seasoned and confident of pilots, now thanks to completely autonomous following and flight speeds of up to 68.4kph everyone can do it. The entire time ActiveTrack is running obstacle avoidance is too, so it will decide whether it should continue following, avoid an obstacle or simply stop.

6 different QuickShots

The DJI Mavic Air features six different QuickShots — Rocket, Dronie, Circle, Helix, Asteroid, and Boomerang. All are just a tap away and will get you those epic selfie drone videos without needing to think about composing your shot. Share your new creations on social media through the DJI GO 4 app instantly.


You don't have to manually fly the DJI Mavic Air with the control sticks, TapFly takes over all of these controls for you leaving you to focus on your shot. Using TapFly mode, all you have to do to is a tap on the screen of your smartphone or tablet and the Mavic Air will fly there. To change the direction of flight, you can simply tap the screen to fly anywhere. Using its Flight Autonomy Obstacle Sensing System, the DJI Mavic Air can fly places you might not have gone before, to create dynamic and inspiring footage.

Auto-return home with FlightAutonomy

The DJI Mavic Air features a failsafe auto-return home feature and will automatically return to the exact spot it took-off if it detects that the battery is running low, connection to the controller is lost or if the return home button is pressed. The integration of the FlightAutonomy 2.0 obstacle sensing system will also safely guide the drone past obstacles.

Safe to fly in winds of up to 36kph

No longer do you have to wait for perfect conditions to enjoy your drone. Thanks to the Mavic Air's clever design and onboard technology, it can stay stable in windy conditions of up to 36kph and at high elevations of up to 5000m above sea level; enabling users to safely capture aerial footage of all the wonders in the world.

Ultra High Definition & DCI 4K recording at 30 frames per second

The DJI Mavic Air drone features a 12MP camera that can record 4K UHD (3840×2160) video internally at up to 30 frames per second. 4K is the latest standard in high definition video and features 4 times more pixels than 1080p Full HD. The videos are stored internally on a MicroSD card (16GB card included), in either MP4 or MOV (MPEG-4 AVC/H.264) format at a max bitrate of 100Mbps. The camera can also record at a fast frame rate of 120fps in Full HD.

Three-axis stabilizing gimbal

A three-axis stabilizing gimbal on the DJI Mavic Air holds the camera and automatically corrects unwanted flight movement for smooth and professional looking video.

12MP Raw/JPEG photos

The DJI Mavic Air's camera features a 12MP sensor and can capture images in either DNG raw or JPEG.

Gesture mode

Want to take a selfie, just make a frame with your fingers. Want the Mavic Air to follow you, just raise your arms or wave and the Mavic Air will follow you. In Gesture mode, the DJI Mavic Air's vision system can recognize gestures so you can operate the drone remote free.

32 Megapixel Panoramas

The DJI Mavic Air can capture expansive landscapes with extreme definition thanks to a 32MP panorama feature. The Mavic Air features a bunch of panorama modes, including Sphere, and will stitch 25 photos to create one 32-megapixel image within one minute.

Good in low light

Good looking low light video recording is made possible by a fast F/2.8 lens and sensor light sensitivity of ISO 100-1600 in video recording, or ISO 100-3200 when taking pictures. 

Easy Camera adjustments

All the camera settings, including ISO, shutter speed, and exposure compensation, can be set on the DJI Go app.

High Definition Live View with live streaming

A 720p resolution Live View can be streamed from the DJI Mavic Air camera to a compatible smartphone or tablet, and from the device, it can even be streamed directly to YouTube using the Go app.

24mm f/2.8 lens

The DJI Mavic Air's camera features a 24mm (35mm format equivalent) f/2.8 lens. The lens provides a wide field of view with very low distortion, enabling you to capture the vast scenery.

8GB Internal Storage

If you forgot to put a memory card in your Mavic Air drone then do not worry; the Mavic Air features 8GB of internal memory for you to store pictures and videos. After recording files can be downloaded through the quadcopter's USB 3.0 Type-C port.
